Backed by decades of experience and a history of success, Deufol has always valued innovation and we remain on the cutting edge of packaging technology and supply chain solutions.

1898 - Deufol is founded as Dayton Folding Box Company

Over the years, the company changed its name to Seasongood Folding Box Company and moved to Harrison, Ohio. Throughout this period, Seasongood’s focus was on the primary shipping solution of that time — the foldable box. However, by the 1970s, the manufacturing world was rapidly changing, and Seasongood’s product offerings would soon change with it.

1977 - Walt Franks joins Seasongood as a General Manager

Walt began managing a contract for thermoform packaging with the Mallory Battery Company, which would later be acquired by Duracell. That acquisition marked the beginning of a longstanding relationship between Duracell and Deufol.

1979 - Detlef W. Hübner takes over textile wholesaler Dönne + Hellwig GmbH.

Detlef systematically developed the company into a competitive specialist for industrial and consumer goods logistics and in-house outsourcing – a concept that would later (1996) acquire trademark protection. The company’s early international outlook gave it a strong competitive edge and considerable market success.

1986 – Walt Franks purchases Seasongood and changes company name to J&J Packaging

During this time, Deufol transitioned into the thermoform plastics and contract packaging business to meet the evolving needs of the manufacturing and consumer goods industries.

1998 – D’Logistics, parent company of Dönne + Hellwig GmbH, is founded

By the following year the business had grown so successfully that the company was listed on the Neuer Markt stock market in Frankfurt. As D’Logistics AG the company grew further, expanding into Italy and in 2000 to the U.S.

2001 – J&J Packaging is acquired by D’Logistics.

The acquisition allowed J&J to further expand its services and offer distribution and warehousing solutions to its customers. In 2008, D’Logistics changed its name to Deufol, and J&J Packaging became Deufol Sunman.

2010 – The Deufol Group is formed

A conglomerate of very different companies came together to form the international Deufol Group. The new name unified all national and international subsidiaries under the Deufol umbrella and represented a conscious reorientation towards a new line of business: intelligent packaging solutions.

2020 – Deufol Thermoforming moves to Richmond, IN

After Deufol made the business decision to end manufacturing in Sunman, IN and with the intent to service our customers by preserving the majority of our original experienced workforce and its skills to our business, we have opened a stand alone thermoforming facility in Richmond, IN. This facility still maintain close accessibility to the interstate systems and  our commitment in providing world class thermoforming parts and components for the EV markets and consumer groups remains our number one priority.
